10 year anniversary Sailing Innovation Center

News - 24 February 2020

The Sailing Innovation Center (SIC) has been in existence for 10 years. For the occasion, all companies involved in SIC gathered last week to celebrate. During the inspiring event,  Koedood Marine Group signed up as the first permanent innovation partner.

The Sailing Innovation Center helps to speed up innovations in sailing. The center supports the sporting ambitions of the Netherlands in sailing, promotes interest in sailing and contributes to economic growth by supporting companies in realizing new and better products and services.

Innovations can be tested, among other things, in the ‘Fieldlab on the North Sea’, a test area covering 10 by 10 nautical nautical miles off the coast of Scheveningen, in which TU Delft is also involved. The field lab consists of a network of smart buoys fitted with a whole range of measuring equipment, and a network to send the collected data to the shore. Companies (start-ups, SMEs as well as the manufacturing industry) that want to test any application are welcome to use this infrastructure.

The Sailing Innovation Center is an initiative of NOC*NSF, Watersportverbond, Delft University of Technology, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the municipality of The Hague. The SIC is located in Scheveningen.
