IPD alumna wins a Core77 Design Award

News - 24 June 2021 - Communication

IDE MSc Integrated Product Design alumna Tina Ekhtiar’s project Wavy took home the Student Runner Up Interaction Award at the Core77 Design Awards 2021.

Wavy is a collaboration between TU Delft’s Play Well Lab and Sophia Children's Hospital's Child Brain Lab. It is an interactive experience for the Child Brain Lab that helps children undergoing electroencephalograms (EEG) understand what is happening. Many children who undergo the test understand the procedural side of EEG, but they do not understand what exactly it does. Therefore, Wavy creates a comfortable, accessible way for children to explore and ask questions about the test.

The experience utilises a projector that interacts with physical pieces to create a virtual and physical environment for children to explore 'What an EEG does' and to introduce parts of the procedure to them.

Wavy is also up for the Community Choice Prize, members of the public can vote for it until 15 July.
