Activities in high-rise building EWI temporarily suspended

News - 19 February 2021 - Webredactie Communication

Starting Thursday 18 February 2021, all current activities in the high-rise building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) have been temporarily suspended, as a precautionary measure. This decision was taken by TU Delft, in consultation with the fire service, following recent investigations into making the high-rise future-proof.

Recent investigations have shown that the fire safety of the steel beams of a number of floors in the high-rise building cannot be guaranteed. A plan is currently being drawn up to ensure that the entire high-rise building will meet all fire safety requirements as soon as possible.

The safety of staff, students and visitors is our highest priority, which is why TU Delft has decided on this drastic measure.

Continuity of research and education is guaranteed as much as possible. Updates will follow as soon as possible on the EEMCS faculty webpage.
