Coronavirus update: a summary of the restrictions announced on 12 November

News - 16 November 2021 - Communication

Last Friday, 12 November, the outgoing government announced extensive new restrictions to combat the spread of coronavirus. These restrictions will apply for a minimum of three weeks, until 4 December. As the restrictions came into force at 18.00 on 13 November, we presented an initial update from X on Friday already. The following message outlines all of the restrictions that will affect you at X: 1.5 metre social distancing before and after outdoor sports, no spectators during sports activities, amended opening hours for several parts of our offer and the re-introduction of the take-away options.

COVID certificates and 1.5 metre social distancing
Since Saturday 6 November, anyone wishing to enter X has had to show a COVID certificate. Once you have been checked and are inside, you do not have to wear a face mask or maintain 1.5 metre social distancing.

When participating in outdoor sports, with the exception of people using the balloon hall, you will not have to show a COVID certificate. They may enter the outdoor sports facilities via the outer gate on the tennis court side. However, you will have to maintain 1.5 metre social distancing before and after your sports session.

Please remember that the current safety measures will still apply to X.

No spectators
It was also announced at the press conference that from Saturday 13 November 18.00 no spectators are allowed during sports matches and training sessions. This applies inside (the sports halls) and outside (along the courts and fields).

Amended opening hours
Hospitality venues may stay open until 20.00, and allocated seating is compulsory. As previously announced, Cafe X will close its doors at 20.00. The Freetown kitchen will no longer be available for reservations after 20.00.

As well as hospitality venues, non-essential shops and service providers are also obliged to restrict their opening hours. This applies to the Concept Store (shop) and the masseur at X. The Concept Store will be open until 18.00 and the masseur will be available for time slots up until 18.00. Keep a close eye on our website and be quick as Yannā€™s massages are extremely popular.

Take-away
Because we want as many visitors as possible to enjoy our culinary offerings, we will once again be offering the take-away service. You can place an order from the Cafe X menu either inside (with a COVID certificate) or outside (without a COVID certificate) the Concept Store from 19.30 to 21.00. So even after 20.00, thereā€™s a ā€˜Friendsgivingā€™ hotdog with your name on it!

Events
Most of the activities at X do not come under last Fridayā€™s new restrictions for large-scale events. Our dynamic activities, such as lectures, workshops, talks and exhibitions (e.g. this weekā€™s lovely Autumn Sparks) fall outside these restrictions. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Highlight Festival. This festival, which revolves around wonderful light installations which need to be seen in the dark, has therefore been cancelled.

Refunds
In response to the current restrictions and the obligation to show a COVID certificate at X, we can imagine that there are questions regarding participation and refunds. You can find more information about this in X's general Terms and Conditions.

All in all, everyone's flexibility is once again being sorely tested. No musical chairs in Cafe X, no after-parties in the Freetown kitchen and no group hugs after outdoor activities. But... a vastly improved capacity to ā€˜rethinkā€™, to be considerate towards others and to join forces to make the best of a bad situation. So plan your culinary dates in Freetown a bit earlier, and treat yourself to a delicious take-away! We'll get through this together!
