Special attendance at the Delft Welcome Week for new students: Queen Máxima and Minister Dijkgraaf of Education, Culture and Science visited X at the Activity Market and talked to students about mental wellbeing.

Queen Máxima is honorary president of the MIND Us foundation, which is dedicated to the mental health of young people between 12 and 27. A visit like this gives MIND Us important input for this. Career & Counselling Services invited Neva Rustad and Melissa Kramer from HII, Annelot Andeweg student official from Delft, Lutsia Kors from Laga, Tom de Laat from SNVB Hooke, Joost Sanders from the Vera and Khalid el Haji from the SR to attend the round table discussion on mental wellbeing.

Jan van Beek, student psychologist at Career & Counselling Services and one of the initiators of the round table discussion: "Personal commitment within the theme of wellbeing is extremely important. Showing that you can also approach student wellbeing in a positive way and preferably prevent people from making choices they would rather not make."

The students who were present at the table discussion were delighted with the visit of the Queen and Minister. Neva Rustadof HII (provides peer support among students): "It's nice to hear different perspectives on this subject. Because we see one part, but it's really big. It's important to be open to a conversation about mental health. Just to make it something you can talk about with each other can spark good conversations and that can help a lot."
Khalid el Haji of the SR said it was nice to have the opportunity to speak with Queen Máxima and the Minister about this topic and also good to know that they are also very aware of what is going on among students. "It is important to have the attention on this subject. Now the pandemic may be over and our attitude towards wellbeing may change. And we should avoid that, because welfare has always been important and it should remain so."

Furthermore, during the Activity Market  the queen and Minister Dijkgraaf visited LGBT+ youth association Outsite, platform Student Unlimited for students with a disability, student jazz association Groover and football association Ariston.
