In memoriam Rudy van der Meer

Recently, we received the sad announcement that on March 19, 2023 TU Delft alumnus Rudy van der Meer passed away. Ir. van der Meer graduated in chemical engineering in 1971.

As chairman of Delft University Fund from 2005 to 2013, Rudy van der Meer dedicated himself to supporting talented students of TU Delft. He encouraged them to be the best they can be. In doing so, he strengthened the career and personal development of many Delft engineers. In addition, the board and team of Delft University Fund could always count on Rudy for advice and support. Since 2014, he remained actively involved with Delft University Fund Delft as valued donor. 

For much of his professional career, Rudy van der Meer held top positions at Akzo Nobel, in particular as a member of the Board. He was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EBN, Imtech and Coöperatie VGZ. With Rudy we, as a TU Delft community, have lost a prominent Delft engineer. 

We will continue to remember him with warmth and respect.
