The Delft Laboratory for NeuroMuscular Control (NMC Lab) investigates the human motor system from an engineering perspective. The Lab is multidisciplinary; active on the borderline between dynamic modelling and system identification on the one hand and the clinical application on the other hand.
In the Delft Biorobotics Lab (DBL), we investigate safe and efficient robotic systems that dynamically interact with humans, such as prosthetic legs, robotic arms, or active rehabilitation environments. To enable these applications, we develop new types of compliant actuation principles and cooperative control algorithms.
The Delft Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics is dedicated to advance prosthetic and orthotic systems, and to increase basic knowledge of human interactions with these systems. The research is conducted in close collaboration with rehabilitation centres to ensure clinical interactions and applications.
