Yabin Yang attained his BSc. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China in 2010. Then he obtained his PhD. Degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Tsinghua University, China in 2016. Half way through his PhD, he studied in the University of Virginia in the US for one year as a visiting scholar. In 2016, he joined the Department of Precision and Microsystems Engineering in Delft University of Technology as a postdoc under the supervision of Dr. Can Ayas.
Yabin Yang’s PhD program is on the multiscale modelling on composite woven materials and design of novel lightweight inflatable structures. His current postdoc project focus on process modelling of selective laser melting (SLM) for predicting residual stresses and distortions of the SLM product. The goal is to develop computationally efficient numerical models that can be automatically incorporated in topology optimization.
