Using microscope technology on mobile phones to trace malaria quickly and cheaply

Doctoral candidate Temitope Agbana, who works at the DCSC Department on a TU Delft Global fellowship, together with his colleague Hai Gong received the Silver Edmund Optics Educational award for his Optical Smart Malaria Diagnostic Project last month. They aim at realizing accurate diagnosis of malaria with a click of a button.

ERC Starting Grant for Manuel Mazo Jr.

Manuel Mazo Jr., researcher and assistant professor at Delft Center for Systems and Control (DCSC) has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council. Manuel’s main area of research is control systems. The focus of his research is on the interactions between physical systems and the communication and computation platforms and algorithms employed to control them.

3mE congratulates Veni laureate Javier Alonso Mora

Javier Alonso Mora, assistant professor at the department Cognitive Robotics of 3mE, has been awarded a 250,000 euros Veni grant for his research ‘Robots among humans: safe and socially intuitive navigation.’ In the near future millions of robots, autonomous cars and boats, will coexist with humans. This research will provide algorithms that allow a mobile robot to safely navigate and coordinate with other robots and humans. The Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS) is a partner in this project.
