International and bilingual schools

Bilingual schools

In principle, instruction in the Netherlands is in Dutch. There is, however, a growing number of internationally orientated bilingual schools (a combination of Dutch and English, mostly). About half of the subjects are taught in English there and English is spoken about 50% of the time. The general exams at the end of the curriculum are in Dutch. Some bilingual schools offer special programmes for non-Dutch speakers.

In order to locate bilingual schools in the Delft area use the links on this website if you wish to know more about a specific school's programme, contact the school of your interest directly.

Should you be interested in secondary schools with a full English curriculum, you might want to look into international schools at a secondary school level.

International schools

The Netherlands has a network of international schools, in The Hague, Amsterdam and Delft for example, for children between the ages of 4 and 19.

The International School Delft is in the process of expanding to offer the full range of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. The primary school already offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the secondary school now offers the first 2 years of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) for students aged 11 to 16. Year by year the International School Delft will expand its programme to offer all years and will also add the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). In this way, it will be 1 of 3 schools in the Netherlands to offer the complete international baccalaureate curriculum for students from 4 to 18.
