Looking back at a successful alumni event in Toulouse

On the 23rd of May, in collaboration with Airbus, we hosted an alumni event in Toulouse, France. Over 30 alumni living and working in the Toulouse area joined at the Airbus site to share stories, find network opportunities and meet new people.

The event started with an exclusive tour around the Final Assembly Line of the A350. The alumni got to see how all stations perform specific tasks in the aircraft’s assembly and systems testing and where the wings arrive for their assembly with the fuselage. The tour and more insides were given by a fellow alumnus and Airbus employee, Pieter Vinken.

This was followed by a short presentation about the faculty, given by our Alumni Relations Coordinator, Mechteld van Beijeren. Then Dr. Santiago Garcia, associate professor at the Novel Aerospace Materials group and team leader of the Self-Healing Polymeric Materials team, gave a lecture about the current research efforts done by his group. The subjects ranged from new characterization techniques to self-healing polymer systems and his research into algae as replacement of chromium-6.

One of our goals, as a faculty, is to bring our alumni together, anywhere in the world. With the alumni chapters we are trying to create a ‘networking hub’ of alumni abroad. We currently have 3 chapters in Hamburg/Bremen Münchich and Toulouse.

Are you an alumnus living in the Toulouse area, but have you not received an invitation for this event? Please send an email to ae-connect@tudelft.nl so we can make sure to add you to our database.
