Dr. Bariș Çağlar joins as Assistant Professor

We are pleased to welcome Bariș Çağlar who has joined TU Delft at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering as Assistant Professor. His multidisciplinary research on the physics of processing of composites strengthens our effort in aerospace manufacturing technologies.

Baris obtained his PhD on fluid-structure interaction in composite manufacturing processes at Koç University in Istanbul. He was also awarded a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship to work on characterization and manufacturing of self-healing composites at the Polymer and Composite Technology Lab at EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. He completed his postdoctoral research at the Laboratory for Processing of Advanced Composites at EPFL. His recent research aims at developing novel monitoring techniques for fluid-structure interaction to elucidate dual-scale flow, void formation and transport, and deformation in composite processing. He expands these physics based models with machine learning for efficient manufacturing of composites. Finally Bariș combines his processing knowledge with novel concepts in materials science, exploring frontal polymerisation routes and novel approaches toward composites with improved thermal performance and sensing capabilities.

We welcome him with great excitement and anticipation of future research at TU Delft!
