The PhD Development Cycle

PhD Programme

Our PhD programme offers a combination of your research and Doctoral Education: broadening your skills from discipline-related to transferable (personal) skills, and further developing your research skills. In order to guarantee the quality of the PhD process and to increase the PhD pass rate, TU Delft has implemented a tailor-made PhD Development Cycle that covers the four years of your PhD. This cycle is mandatory for all PhD candidates and starts on the first day of the PhD and consists of six steps leading to your doctoral defence ceremony.

Supervision team

The key role of your supervisors is to assist, guide, and support you throughout the PhD trajectory. Your supervision team will consist of a TU Delft professor and a daily supervisor (Code of good practice). The professor is your main supervisor (promotor). You can find more information in the Guide for Doctoral Candidates and Supervisors.
