AI for sustainable, reliable and effective energy systems

Energy systems are the backbone of our modern society. It is of great importance that these systems are sustainable, reliable and effective, now and in the future. TU Delft's campus has strong expertise in this field. The DAI Energy Lab will investigate how new AI-based methods can contribute to managing (dynamic-) energy systems.

We will combine ground-breaking machine learning with the reliable theory of the physical energy system. For example, it is possible to use the AI technique 'neural networks' to model differential equations that describe dynamics in areas such as fluid dynamics, and for predicting extreme, rare events. The DAI Energy Lab will investigate these promising methods for their applicability in monitoring the 'health' of energy system components, and for the early detection of threats.
