Debate Rebuild by Design - the Dutch Contributions

Rebuilding New York and New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy

The debate intends to promote designs by students of TU Delft graduation studio 'Delta Interventions' as well as the contributions by Dutch Design Teams.

This year the Delta Intervention Studio, an inter-disciplinary graduation studio focussing on water related issues, concentrated on Rebuild New York and New Jersey after hurricane Sandy.
In an open debate we want to confront three teams of the Rebuild-by-Design after hurricane Sandy, a program initiated by the US government, with the outcome of the graduation studio. What can the Dutch approach contribute to the water safety issues in the US? What is the role of civil engineers versus spatial designers? We talk about complex problems and tasks, how integral is a project?
We invite urban designers, landscape architects, architects, civil engineers and planners interested in water system design, both students and professionals, to talk about Lessons Learned; rebuilding after hurricane Sandy.
