Valparaíso Upcycling Market
Valparaíso Upcycling Market is located in the edge of the mountain area of Valparaíso, Chile, inorder to expand the city center from the plain area to the hill side. The waste as a problem but also a resource of this common area helps to build cultural and educational events: collecting, upcycling and selling the waste in this market. The market, workshop and the storage space are separated on three floors with an infinity circulation, which is created by the existing water tank on the site and the staircases in the round-shaped concrete architecture. The building also cooperates well with the cultural park near the site. Poems, panoramas and watercolor paintings are the main tools in the research and design process. They helped me build the architecture, and my position as an observer, a participant and a designer in this project.
