Activities for kids
Kids workshops and family activities like the annual Expeditions, Halloween, Science Day and our Kerstival: they all are fun events for kids of all ages to learn about plants and plant science.
Speurtochten
For children up to 12 years old who can read and write we have fun free ‘speurtochten’. They have to search the garden for letters to make up a plant or nature related word. They get to know a bit more about nature and receive a small appropriate gift when the solution is found. There is a new ‘speurtocht’ every quarter.
Small children who cannot yet read and write can do a special ‘speurtocht’ and search the garden for certain objects, animals and persons.
Expeditions
Mark Saturday 12 September 2020 in your agenda, because then our special edition Corona Expedition for kids from 5 – 12 takes place in our garden. At the entrance each child receives instructions and then goes on expedition throughout the garden. It is a fun day with lots of activities around health for humans and.
Due to the corona measures there are two time slots: 10:00 – 13:00 (full = full) and 13:30 – 16:30 (full = full). To avoid a queue on the day itself tickets can be bought in advance at our MuseumShop on 5 and 11 September between 10:00 – 16:30.
Admission children incl. passport: € 6,- (Museumjaarkaart not valid for kids)
Admission adults: € 6,- /Admission 65+: € 3,-
Halloween
Normally in October, our garden becomes a haunted Halloween venue for kids from 5 – 12 years old. They can visit the spooky greenhouses, roast marshmallows and make some typical Halloween decorations. Unfortunately this was not possible this year due to Covid-19. However, we found a good alternative and arranged kids workshops instead. Let's hope next year the event can take place again!
Admission children: € 5,- (Museumjaarkaart not valid for kids)
Admission adults: € 6,- /Admission 65+: € 3,-
Science Day
The last Sunday in October we usually have Science Day in our garden and Science Centre Delft. It is an event with fun games and activities for kids and families, like examining water samples, seeing how glass is made and what plants look like from the inside.
Due to the current corona situation Science Day 2020 has been cancelled.
Kerstival
Unfortunately edition 2 of our Kerstival had to be cancelled as well this year. However, we will set up a wonderful Christmas walk through the garden offering nice views on different Christmas trees and interesting Christmas related plant information. Along the way you can guess Christmas songs and of course sing them out loud as well!
