Golchin, A.

Profile

Ali joined the Section of Geo-engineering at Delft University of Technology as a Ph.D. researcher in 2017. Before joining TU Delft, Ali obtained his master’s degree in geotechnical engineering, from Shiraz University of Technology, Iran in 2012.
Currently he is part of a research team working on the project “Energy-piles in The Netherlands”. As a part of his research, he develops thermomechanical constitutive models for geomaterials. Ali also collaborates with DIANA FEA B.V. to implement thermomechanical models in in DIANA FEA boundary-value solver.
Ali also conduct temperature-controlled triaxial tests to understand the thermomechanical behaviour of fine-grained soils. This work is ongoing at Deltares research institutite, Delft, The Netherlands.

Research

Ali’s main research interests focuses on theoretical and computational solid mechanics and geomechanics, particularly on developing constitutive models for geomaterials and numerical implementation of constitutive models in boundary value solvers (e.g. FEM).
Ali is also interested in advanced laboratory experiments such as temperature-controlled triaxial and direct shear soil element tests.
