Rock-Fluid Flow Processes

Research on Rock-Fluid interactions Processes in two major directions, i.e. enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and subsurface sequestration of CO2, along with continuing research in well-inflow performance and visualization techniques. A major research effort was in foam EOR and chemical EOR. The major focus of this theme is on the mechanism of mobility of foam and oil displacement by surfactants used to reduce oil-water interfacial tension. It also enabled us to develop computational capabilities in network modelling and micro-CT scanning applied to multiphase flow in porous media.

 Our research topics are:

  1. Enhanced Oil Recovery
  2. Reservoir Aspects of CO2 Sequestration
  3. Well Inflow Performance
  4. Advanced visualisation techniques
  5. Unconventional Resources
  6. Fluid Flow in Fractured Porous Media
  7. Exergetic Viability of Energy Extraction Processes
