Profile

I have been a PhD candidate at the Department of Geoscience and Remote Sensing since February 2020. I completed my MSc. Spaceflight at the Aerospace Engineering faculty at TU Delft, where I was studying the polarization of light reflected by Earth-like planets beyond our solar system. I continued doing research on radiative transfer for 9 months at University of Oxford, focussing on hot Jupiter-like planets.

Research

I am working on the detection of cloud shadows on Earth with the TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) on board of the Sentinel-5P satellite and I am analyzing the impact of cloud shadows on the TROPOMI air quality measurements. The research is a cooperation between TU Delft and R&D Satellite Observations at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). I use the 3D radiative transfer components of the Earth Clouds and Aerosol Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) simulator (ECSIM) together with 3D high resolution cloud fields generated using the Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) model to simulate TROPOMI measurements. The objective of my research is to improve the TROPOMI Absorbing Aerosol Index and NO2 products.
