S. (Sebastian) Ciuban
I am a PhD candidate in the research group of Mathematical Geodesy and Positioning. In 2017 I have obtained a MSc degree in GNSS from École National de l’Aviation Civile in Toulouse. After the graduation I have joined ESA in ESTEC for 1 year and 3 months as a Young Graduate Trainee in the Directorate of Navigation where I focused on R&D activities regarding GNSS positioning engines and low-cost GPS spoofing.
Starting from 2019 I worked as a GNSS Engineer in the Space Department of CGI Nederland B.V. in multiple areas such as algorithm development for a secure cloud-based GNSS snapshot receiver, teaching GNSS principles and algorithms in the framework of the CGI Space Academy, and writing technical proposals for European funded projects.
The objective of the PhD research topic is to address the challenges that make difficult to achieve reliable centimetre-level GNSS positioning for applications such as assisted and automated driving. Therefore, specific focus will be placed on detection theory for Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) carrier-phase positioning in the context of multi-frequency, multi-constellation GNSS in order to develop reliable centimetre-level interferometric-GNSS (I-GNSS) positioning.
