Specialties and research interests:
- Climate change adaptation: Nourishment performance, Sediment transport in the coastal zone
- Surfzone dynamics: (Very) Low Frequency motions, rip currents, swimmer safety, windsea/swell differences
- Experimental coastal observation techniques: Remote sensing and rapid bed level mapping
- Surfing waves: Wave pools and reefs
Matthieu de Schipper won the New Scientist Science Talent prize 2019.
The research and field laboratory of the Schipper and his students are funded by NWO and the ZABAWAS Foundation.
