Marco has studied Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Rome “Roma Tre”. In 2013, he was awarded a competitive fellowship at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (USA), where he developed laboratory experiments on submarine melting of glaciers in Greenland’s fjords (http://www.whoi.edu/hpb/viewPage.do?id=53097&cl=3). The resulting MSc thesis was awarded as the best one in water engineering for the year 2014 by the Italian Group for Hydraulics. Marco has started his PhD at TUDelft in December 2013, focusing on fundamental research on the sediment transport processes that determine the morphological evolution of estuarine regions, in particular the Dutch Wadden Sea. His project is funded by the Province of Fryslân via the University Campus Fryslân and in collaboration with the Wadden Academy.
