Gijs Hendrickx

Profile

Gijs graduated in 2020 in Hydraulic Engineering at the TU Delft. The topic of the graduation work was the development of a biophysical model framework for coral development; bridging the gaps between hydrodynamics and ecology. This graduation work was executed at Deltares.

Research

The topic of the PhD research Gijs is currently working on is the implementation of the Building with Nature-philosophy on the challenges of salt intrusion: Nature-based solutions against salt intrusion. This PhD project is part of the larger consortium SALTISolutions, which looks at the threats of salt intrusion in the face of climate change. The main focus of Gijs’ research is the development of solutions that make use of the complex estuarine physics in the advantage of human and nature.
