Research & Projects

Permeable pile groins, as a soft method, have been used for coastal protection for a long time since 1950s in the Netherlands, German and UK. Most of them are proved to be effective. While the nearshore process under effects of impermeable pile groins are well understood, the hydraulic function of  permeable pile groins is paid less attention to compared to their counterpart. On the basis of former researchers’ work, a further systematic research is necessary to enhance the understanding of this type of groins.
