SWAN

SWAN is a third-generation wave model, developed at Delft University of Technology, that computes random, short-crested wind-generated waves in coastal regions and inland waters. See a short overview of the model features of SWAN.

To download the latest version of SWAN, either the source code or the Setup Wizards for SWAN, visit the SWAN website or click on the SourceForge page.

The software can be used freely under the terms of the GNU General Public License (see Copyright and Liability). However, for any use of the SWAN source code in your environment, proper reference must be made to the origin of the software!

Please consult the Implementation Manual for a correct installation of SWAN on your computer. SWAN is portable to the most common operating systems (Windows, Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, IRIX).

Also a list of known bugs and patches is maintained for the latest SWAN version.

See the User Manual for a complete description of the usage of SWAN.

Important: if you want to keep inform of recent SWAN developments, updates, new bug-fixes or you have some questions about the use of SWAN package, please subscribe to the available mailing lists. Alternatively, you may submit a bug or request to the Tracker.

SWAN was supported by Office of Naval Research (USA) and nowadays partly by Rijkswaterstaat (as part of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, The Netherlands).
