Eliz-Mari Lourens graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. In 2012, she received a PhD degree for her work on dynamic force identification from the KU Leuven, Belgium. She currently holds a position as Assistant Professor at both the Offshore Engineering section of the Hydraulic Engineering Department, and the Dynamics of Structures section of the Engineering Structures Department. Her research is focused on vibration-based identification and monitoring, and includes topics related to force and state estimation, structural health monitoring, optimal experiment design, system identification, and model validation. Targets of application include bridges and other large civil infrastructures, buildings, offshore wind turbines, large vessels, and ice-excited structures in the arctic.
