Claudia Ylla Arbós
Profile
Claudia has a background in Civil Engineering, which she has developed in different countries. She did her bachelor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain (where she comes from), and her master at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her master studies were a combination of hydraulic and geotechnical engineering.
In Switzerland, Claudia also worked in engineering consulting companies specializing in hydraulic and geotechnical structures, and in the Laboratory of Hydraulic Constructions (EPFL) where she did physical modelling.
Research
Claudia is currently working on the long-term (morphodynamic) response of the upper Rhine-Meuse Delta to climate change and anthropogenic interference. The context of this research is nicely described in this article by her supervisor, Astrid Blom.
Projects
Claudia's project is part of the research program Rivers2Morrow, of the National Research and Innovation Programme on Water and Climate (NKWK), funded by Rijkswaterstaat and DGWB.
Rivers2Morrow is a research program that aims at gaining insight on the long term development of lowland rivers, regarding morphology, hydraulics and ecology. More information can be found on the website.
