Profile

PhD candidate with the research topic: A Study of the Effect of Combined Leaching and Carbonation Process on Physical and Transport Properties of Cementitious materials. The research is conducted in the framework of nuclear waste disposal in a geological setting at Mol, Belgium. A master’s degree was obtained in 2017 at the RWTH Aachen in the field of Applied Geoscience with a specialisation in Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR).

Research

The main focus of the research comprises degradation and characterization of cement paste (OCP). Especially the combined effects of leaching and carbonation on transport properties (permeability,d iffusion) are of interest. The research comprises of both an experimental approach, as well as a modelling approach.

PhD thesis: A Study of the Effect of Combined Leaching and Carbonation Process on Physical and Transport Properties of Cementitious materials

Main objective: To qualitatively and quantitatively determine impact of combined leaching and carbonation on cement paste of different water-cement ratios by means of chemically accelerated experiments.
