Research

The main focus of research is bacteria-based self-healing concrete. Topics of research relate to various aspects of this theme. In order to motivate adoption of the invention to concrete practice, material development was oriented towards an additive, serving as an “add-on” innovation falling under the category of “admixture”. In order to promote applicability, research includes the development of quantitative methods and assessments of quality, functionality, sustainability and viability.

Guest lectures and workshops on self-healing concrete and taking the approach of damage management, inspired by nature, e.g. for various (inter)national universities, institutions and companies.

Various demonstrations and hands-on activities related to (self)healing of concrete and asphalt, e.g. at (science) fairs and open days.
