Dr.ir. M. (Meng) Wang
Dr. Meng Wang is a guest researcher at the Department of Transport & Planning, TU Delft. He was an Assistant Professor (2015-2021, tenured in 2019) at the Department of Transport & Planning, TU Delft and Co-Director of research lab of Electric and Automated Transport (hEAT lab) until 2021. He obtained his BSc (2003) in Tsinghua University, MSc (2006) in Research Institute of Highway (RIOH), Ministry of Transport, China and PhD Cum Laude (2014) at TU Delft. From 2006-2009, he worked as Assistant Researcher at National Center for Intelligent Transportation Systems, RIOH. Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as a PostDoc researcher at the Automotive Group at the Department of BioMechanical Engineering in TU Delft. He is heading the Chair of Traffic Control and Process Automation at TU Dresden.
He serves as Associate Editor for the journal IEEE Transactions of Intelligent Transportation Systems, IET Intelligent Transport System, and Transportmetrica B: Transport Dynamics. He is Guest Editor and Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Transportation Research Part C, and Guest Editor of IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine. Meng is a member of TRB Committee AHB45(3) Traffic Flow Modelling of Connected and Automated Vehicles, IEEE ITS Society Technical Committee on Cooperative Driving, WCTRS Special Interest Group (SIG) C1 Traffic Theory and Modelling. He is Vice President of Europe Chapter of COTA (Chinese Overseas Transportation Association). He is the recipient of the IEEE ITS Society Best PhD Dissertation Award (2015) and IEEE ITSC Best Paper Award (2013), the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding PhD Students Abroad (2013).
His main research interests are sustainable intelligent transportation systems, in particular decision-making and control approaches for cooperative vehicle and traffic systems, traffic flow theory in relation to intelligent vehicles, and green traffic management and vehicle control systems.

Dr. M. Wang
Dr. Meng Wang is Assistant Professor at the Department of Transport & Planning at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology since 2015. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Tsinghua University, MSc degree in Research Institute of Highway (RIOH), Ministry of Transport, China and PhD with Cum Laude at Delft University of Technology, all in Civil Engineering. Before he started his academic career, he also worked at National Centre for Intelligent Transport System at RIOH for three years. His main research interests are driver behaviour theory; modelling & design & assessment of automated and connected vehicle systems for safe and efficient traffic. Over the last five years, he has focused on control design for partially automated driving systems, in particular Adaptive Cruise Control and Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control systems and impact assessment of such systems on traffic-flow characteristics via an analytical approach and traffic simulations. He has won several awards, including IEEE ITS Society Best PhD Dissertation Award, Outstanding Oversea PhD Student Award by Chinese Scholarship Council, IEEE ITS Conference Best Paper Award, ITS World Congress Best Paper Award. He holds a guest research position at the Department of BioMechanical Engineering, TU Delft and a guest researcher position at RIOH. He is actively involved in several projects under Dutch Automated Vehicle Initiative.
