Dr. J.P. Aguilar Lopez

Since September of 2016, Juan Pablo Aguilar López holds a Post-doc position in the hydrology group for developing a fiber optics based dike monitoring sensor. He is a civil engineer from the Colombian school of engineering “Julio Garavito“. He also obtained a post-degree in water resources from the same institution and later an MSc. in hydro-informatics from the Unesco-IHE water institute in Delft. Afterwards, he obtained his PhD from the University of Twente in the Netherlands for his study on the influence of structural embedments in the probabilistic assessment of flood defences. He has also worked as a consultant in dam engineering on topics related to hydraulics, hydrology and geotechnics. His main research interest is the development of model emulators for forecasting, early warning and reliability assessment of water related systems.
