Andreas Krietemeijer

Andreas received his Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) in 2012 and his Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) in Geoinformatics and Geodesy in 2014 at the University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg, Germany. He completed his Master's Thesis "Computation of Precipitable Water Vapour Using GPS and Sparse Publicity Available Meteorological Data – Case Studies in New Zealand and Europe" as part of an internship at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. The work was promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through the PROMOS scholarship and has been conducted in collaboration with the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) and the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. For his performances throughout the whole Master's degree, he obtained the Sparkasse Neubrandenburg-Demmin prize as best student in Geoinformatics and Geodesy in 2015.
From September 2015 he worked one year as an IT Engineer at the Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System (SOCIB) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Among other things, he worked mainly on the improvement of automatic quality control systems for ocean gliders and fixed stations. At SOCIB he also focussed his interests on the data extraction from the coastal high frequency radar and especially the forecast and detection of Metotsunamis (Rissagas) in Ciutadella Harbor (Menorca).
Andreas started his PhD research at the TU Delft in the Water Management department in September 2016. He is working within the BRIGAID project and his research will be focussed on the precipitable water vapor estimation using low cost single-frequency GNSS receivers to improve localized extreme rainfall forecasting models.
