Søren Hermansen

Søren Hermansen is the director of Samsoe Energy Academy and the head of Samsoe 100% Renewable Energy project. His mission is to demonstrate that it is possible to create a society which is self-sufficient and 100% based on local renewable energy. The transition is not only a technical effort but equally important a social engaged proces where the local capacity is involved and ownership is secured for the community too.

In 2008 Søren Hermansen was named "Hero of the Environment" by Time Magazine. In 2009 he was awarded the Gothenburg award - the so called Nobel price of the environment. Other awards include the Energy Globe in 2008, Eurosolar 2002. The former minister of the Environment Svend Auken award in 2011. Søren Hermansen is Adjunct professor at Aalborg University.

In 2015 during a visit to from King Willem -Alexander of the Netherlands Søren Hermansen was awarded the order of Orange -Nassau
