The Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam is a student team consisting of students from the TU Delft and the VU Amsterdam. It was founded in 2010 with the objective to break the world speed record for human powered vehicles. They have since tried to push the boundaries of the human potential. They do this by building an aerodynamic vehicle, called the VeloX. In order to become the fastest in the world the team needs to find the newest innovative techniques. The students following the track movement sciences at the VU Amsterdam make sure we select the best athletes and train them themselves. This way they will get our athletes ready for the World Human powered Speed Challenge.
By participating in the WHPSC the team tries to achieve a couple of goals. In particular the team wants to fascinate people about the human potential. Additionally the team wants to convince them about a sustainable future and inspire the youth in the technical field.

TU Delft and VU Amsterdam students break cycling world speed record with 122.12 km/h
On the 10th of September, The Human Power Team, made up of students from TU Delft and VU Amsterdam, broke the women’s world speed record for cycling. Athlete Rosa Bas reached a speed of 122.12 km/h, breaking the old record that stood at 121.8 km/h. The students have constructed their own aerodynamic recumbent bike to take part in the World Human Powered Speed Challenge, taking place until 14 September in the Nevada Desert in the USA.

On Saturday 27 July the Human Power Team, a student team from TU Delft and VU Amsterdam, presented their latest aerodynamic bike at the Dutch National Military Museum in Soesterberg. The team hope that this recumbent bike, named the VeloX 9, will break the world speed record for cycling – which currently stands at 121.8 km/h – in the Nevada desert in the USA.

Students Delft University of Technology and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam present design of aerodynamic recumbent bicycle that must break the world record
The Human Power Team, a student project from the Delft University of Technology and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, has today presented their new design of their newest aerodynamic recumbent bicycle: the VeloX 9. With this bicycle they will attack the world speed record of 121.8 km/h this September in Nevada.

Cyclist Lieke de Cock won the world championship for cycling in the Nevada desert in the US with a speed of 120 km/h.

Students Delft & Amsterdam win cycle race in USA and set new Dutch speed record
Cyclist Aniek Rooderkerken broke the Dutch speed record for women last Saturday, clocking 121.5 km/h to win the World Human-Powered Speed Challenge in the Nevada desert. In this competition for the most innovative cycles and riders from all over the world, Rooderkerken was riding the VeloX 7: a high-tech aerodynamic recumbent bike designed and built by the Human Power Team, a group of students from TU Delft and VU Amsterdam.

Human Power Team closes highway for testing moment
The Human Power Team temporarily closed the A270 to fully test their bicycle and athlete. They did this to prepare as best they can for their world record attempt in The United States during the 11th and 16th of September.
