Note that; Deregistering is at your own risk and cannot be undone! Forms will be processed within 5 workdays.

TU Delft students use Osiris to register for minors offered by TU Delft, as well as the minors available to TU Delft students taught at Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

TU Delft, Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam offer two types of minors: selection minors and non-selection minors. The registration period for selection minors is the same for all three universities. The deadline for registering for non-selection minors at Leiden and Rotterdam is different from the deadline for registering for non-selection minors at TU Delft (see dates provided in the red block).

Please note: Students taking a joint degree programme must register for minors at the coordinating university and therefore also follow the procedures of that institution (see table below).

Selection minors (registration period 1 to 15 April 2020 via Osiris)

Admission criteria apply to selection minors. The list of minors on offer at TU Delft shows which minors are selection minors (available early March).

Once you have submitted your application in Osiris, the minor coordinator will assess whether you are eligible to be admitted to the minor. Specific admission criteria apply to selection minors. Detailed information about admission criteria is available per minor on the website of the selection minor concerned. Here you will also find the name of the relevant minor coordinator.

The registration period for selection minors runs from 1 to 15 April 2020.

You may apply for a maximum of two selection minors worth 30 ECTS, or for a maximum of four selection minors worth 15 ECTS. Once you have applied, you will be put on the waiting list in Osiris. Your application will be assessed by the minor coordinator after 15 April, and you will then be selected for the minor or not. You will be informed of this decision by the end of April 2020. If you are admitted, you will be registered for the minor in Osiris and assured of a place.

You can only be admitted to one 30 ECTS selection minor, unless you have applied for the 15 ECTS minors offered by the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, in which case you may be admitted to two selection minors.

If you have been admitted to and registered for a selection minor, you may no longer register for a non-selection minor. You will no longer be able to switch minors.

First registration period for non-selection minors (from 1 May to 31 May 2020 via Osiris)

There are two registration periods for thematic minors offered by TU Delft. The first registration period for non-selection minors (for which there are no admission criteria) is between 1 and 31 May. Registrations must be submitted via Osiris. This applies to all non-selection minors offered by Leiden, Delft and Erasmus.

As a TU Delft student, you can enter up to five preferences. After the registration period has closed, a lottery draw will take place in June (before the start of the second registration period) based on the preferences you specified.

After the draw, you will either receive an e-mail informing you of the minor on which you have definitively been enrolled or an e-mail informing you that you have not been allocated a place.

Please note: if you are allocated a place as a result of the lottery draw, your other preferences will be cancelled.

If you have been definitively enrolled on a thematic minor you will no longer be able to switch to a different minor.

Haven’t been placed? You enter your preferences again during the second registration period. Your previous preferences will be cancelled.

Manual Osiris

You can use the Osiris manual on how to (pre)register correctly.

Note that, (pre)registration is only successful if you see your entries in the registration overview.

Lottery procedure

During the first registration period you can specify up to five preferences for non-selection minors offered by Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. Places are allocated via a lottery draw in Osiris.

Osiris takes account of your order of preference. The system determines whether each student can be placed on their first choice of minor. If a minor is full (i.e. the maximum number of available places are taken), Osiris will try their second choice, and so on.

You may receive a message saying that you have not been placed on any of your preferred minors. If this is the case, you can apply for a minor (provided there are still places available) during the second registration period.

Second registration period for non-selection minors offered by TU Delft (from 15 June to 30 June 2020 via Osiris)

Haven’t been placed? Or did you forget to register your minor preferences in time? From Monday 15 June up to Tuesday 30 June, you can register for TUD-minors that still have places available after the lottery. Registration is done in OSIRIS Student and is on a lottery basis where you can register a maximum of 5 minor preferences. It is no longer possible to register for LDE-minors or minors from Leiden or Rotterdam.

Please note! When registering for minors, please remember that you must do a total of 30 ECTS, unless you are a student of Clinical Technology. Students of Clinical Technology only need to do 15 ECTS. At TU Delft, the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment offers a number of minors worth 15 ECTS. All other minors at TU Delft are worth 30 ECTS. You can do your 15 ECTS of minors by choosing electives offered in Leiden, Delft or Rotterdam.

Final registration period for non-selection minors offered by TU Delft (from 5 July to 30 July 2020 via Osiris)

If you did not apply for a non-selection minor during the first and second registration period or if you were not assigned a place on a minor following the lottery procedure, you can still enrol for any remaining places on a non-selection thematic minor offered by TU Delft (open enrolment, first-come-first-served basis). During this final registration period, it is not possible to enrol for a thematic minor offered by LDE, Leiden or Rotterdam..

Minor not yet completed
if you have not managed to complete your minor in the academic year in which you registered, you do not need to re-register in the next academic year. Consult the minor coordinator to find out how you can complete your minor in the next academic year.

Registering for a second minor
It is possible for students to register for one thematic minor per academic year. Ultimately, depending on your minor space, up to 30 EC can be included in your degree programme. If you already completed a thematic minor last year and want to take another thematic minor this year, this is possible through the regular registration procedure. Pay attention; In order to include a second minor in your degree programme, you will need approval from your degree programme’s Board of Examiners.

It is not possible for students to register for a second thematic minor in the same academic year. If you still have EC to earn in your minor space, you can fill it up by taking a self-composed minor. If you still want to register for a second minor in the same academic year, please contact minors@tudelft.nl, in addition to the approval request from the Examination Board. The minor administration office will not register you for a second minor until after 1 July, subject to a place being available.

Cancelling registration for a minor
It is only possible to cancel a registration for a selection/non-selection minor during the relevant registration periods (Selection = April, Non-selection= May). You must cancel your registration in Osiris.

As a TU Delft student, you need to take the following steps in order to take a minor at Leiden University or Erasmus University Rotterdam:

Step 1

First check the admissions matrix for each university, and see the Leiden and Rotterdam websites for more content-related information.

Please note:
Leiden University:

  • In a number of minors the modules are not clustered as they are in the first teaching period at TU Delft. See Leiden University's e-Prospectus for this.
  • Selection minors at Leiden University operate a first-come first-served principle based on order of registration.

Erasmus University Rotterdam

  • EUR only offers minors worth 15 ECTS. To complete the remaining 15 ECTS, please go to Step 5.

Step 2

Register in Osiris to take a minor at Leiden University or Erasmus University Rotterdam. Note that different registration periods apply to selection and non-selection minors.

If you have been admitted to and registered for a selection minor, you may no longer register for a non-selection minor and you will not be allowed to switch minors.

Step 3

Ensure that you have an active Bachelor enrollment at TU Delft before 1 September 2020.

Step 4

Arrange enrolment as a guest student at the LDE university where you want to take the minor. This will give you access to the programmes, exams and student facilities of the other university. This guest enrolment is required to be able to participate in the minor. If you are going to take a minor offered by EUR or an LDE minor, you will receive an email requesting you to upload a passport photograph in order to complete your enrolment as a guest student at EUR. Make sure that you upload your passport photo before 1 September. You cannot be enrolled without a passport photo.

Step 5 (EUR only)

If you are going to take a minor at Erasmus University Rotterdam, you will need to make up the remaining 15 ECTS. It is not possible to take two EUR minors in the same academic year. There are limited options for taking electives at EUR alongside the minor at EUR. Consequently, we advise you to get the remaining 15 ECTS by taking electives at TU Delft. You can also take electives at other universities. You need prior permission from your own Board of Examiners to make up the remaining ECTS by taking electives. You can request this permission via the Free Minor Approval Request form. Indicate the electives as well as the EUR minor of your choice.

Self-composed minor

As a student, you also have the possibility to put together a cohesive programme of modules yourself to fill in your minor space. This option is in addition to the thematic minor offer from Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. For more information, we refer you to the self-composed minor page.
