1 Bachelor’s degree

A bachelor’s degree, or proof of being in the process of completing your degree. The degree must be comparable in level to a bachelor’s degree from a research university in the Netherlands and must be closely related to your MSc programme of choice.

2 CGPA and academic transcript

Admission requirement: 
To be considered for admission, applicants should have a bachelor's Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 75% of the scale maximum, unless specific requirements are defined for the country in which you obtained your bachelor’s degree. In addition, scores for key subjects must be good. Please check below if for your country a specific requirement applies.

Please note: if you have not yet graduated, your CGPA must meet the requirements at the time of application.

Angola

A 5 year Licenciatura degree with final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Australia

A bachelor honours degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or High Distinction or Distinction.
Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university  indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

Austria

A university bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better.

Bangladesh

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or the University of Dhaka with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5/4.0 or better.

Belgium

A 3 year 1st cycle Academisch Gerichte Bachelor/ Grade Académique de Bachelíer  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 13.0/20 or better.

Benin

An undergraduate degree from Benin does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies / Diplôme d'Études Supérieures / master’s / Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Botswana

A 5 year bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5.0 (= B) or better.

Brazil

A  4 year bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Bulgaria

A 4 year Bakalavr degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or better.

Burkina Faso

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Burundi

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Cabo Verde

A Licenciado degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Cameroon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a master’s / Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Canada

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Chile

A Bachelor's degree  (Grado de Licenciado ) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5.0/7.0 or better.

China

A bachelor's degree from a Project 211 university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.  

 

Please note that from an admissions point of view, Hong Kong and Macua are considered separately.

Colombia

A 4 year Licenciado or Titulo Professional degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5.0 or better.

Costa Rica

Licenciado degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better. A university Bachiller or a Diplomado / Technico superior degree are not considered for admission.

Croatia

A Baccalaureus / Baccalaurea (bachelor’s degree) or a Diploma Visoko Obrazovanje / Diplomirani (Advanced Diploma of Higher Education) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better.

Denmark

A bachelor’s degree from a university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/12 or better. A professional bachelor’s from a university college does not qualify for admission.

Djibouti

An undergraduate degree from Djibouti does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Ecuador

A university Licenciado or Professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Egypt

A 4 year university bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better

Eritrea

A bachelor’s degree from the University of Asmara with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4 or better.

Ethiopia

A 5 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4.0 or better.

France

A bachelor’s degree from a French university or Grande École. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 12.0/20 (Assez Bien) or better is required.”

Gabon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Gambia

An undergraduate degree from Gambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have  a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.3/4.3 or better.

Germany

A Diplom from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better. A 3 or 4 year 1st cycle bachelor's degree from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better will also be considered.

Ghana

A 4 year bachelor's degree with a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours from a public university.

Greece

A Ptychio or Diploma degree from an Anotata Ekpedeftika Indrimata (AEI) university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

A Ptychio degree from a Technologika Ekpedeftika Idrimata (TEI) institute and an ASPETE degree from a School of Pedagogical and Technological Education do not qualify for admission.

Hong Kong

A bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Hungary

An Alapfokozat or Egyetemi Oklevel Alapkepzes degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better

Iceland

A bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.25/10 or better.

India

A 4 year bachelor's degree  (state/federal or ‘deemed' institution) with First Class Distinction or First Class. 

If your university does not use a class system (First Class Distinction or First Class), TU Delft's general admission requirement of a CGPA of 75% or higher applies. Please make sure to upload information regarding your university's grading system.

Indonesia

A Sarjana I (SI) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Iran

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better.

Ireland

A university bachelor honours degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

Italy

1st cycle Diploma di Laurea  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) on the Laurea courses of 25.0/30 or better.

Ivory Coast

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better. 

Japan

A university bachelor’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of B or better.

Kazakhstan

A 4 or 5 year first degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

Kenya

A 5 year bachelor's degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Lebanon

A 4 or 5 year bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Lesotho

A 5 year bachelor honours degree with First Class or Second Class First Division.  

Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university  indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

Liberia

An undergraduate degree from Liberia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Lithuania

A Bakalauras degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better.

Macua

A bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Madagascar

A Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Malaysia

A bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or Class 2: Division I.

Malawi

A 5 year bachelor honours degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.   

Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university  indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

Mauritius

A 4 year bachelor's degree with First Class Distinction or Class I or Class II Division I.

Mexico

A 4 year Licenciado / Licenciatura or professional degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better.

Mozambique

A 5 year Licenciatura degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Namibia

A 4 year bachelor honours or professional degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Myanmar

An undergraduate degree from Myanmar does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70 % or better.

Nepal

A 4 year bachelor's degree from a public university passed with Distinction, generally represented by a mark of 80%. If the US grading system is used, 3.2/4.0 or better is required.

New Zealand

A bachelor honours degree with a CGPA of 75% or higher.

Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university  indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

Niger

An undergraduate degree from Niger does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have Diplôme d'Études Approfondies or Diplôme d’Études Supérieures Specialisées with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20.

Nigeria

A 5 year bachelor's degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Norway

A 3 year bachelor’s degree from a university, university college, or specialised university institution with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of B/C or higher.

Pakistan

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Poland

A Licencjat or Inzynier university degree or a 3 year 1st cycle bachelor's university degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS points. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better is required.

Peru

A Bachiller/Licenciado degree or a Titulo Profesional  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20.

Philippines

A 4 year bachelor’s degree from a prestigious university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better. Prestigious universities are: Asian Institute of Management Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines (Diliman).’

Portugal

A Licenciatura/Licenciado degree or a 1st cycle bachelor's degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits . A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better is required.

Romania

A University Diploma de Licenta/Diploma de Inginer (awarded after a minimum of 4 years study). A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better is required.

Russia

A 5 year Specialist Diploma or a 4 year Bakalavr degree . Both degrees must have been awarded with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better or a significant number of ‘Excellents’.

Rwanda

A 4 year bachelor honours degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university  indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

Senegal

A Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Serbia

A bachelour degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Seychelles

A bachelor's degree with First Class or Upper Second Class. 

Sierra Leone

A 4 year bachelor honours degree from a public university with First Class or Second Class Upper.

Somalia

A 5 year bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80 or better.

South Africa

A 4 year bachelor honours degree  with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

South Korea

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

South Sudan

An undergraduate degree from South Sudan does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Spain

A Licenciado/Licenciatura, Título de Ingeniero (Superior), Título de Arquitecto or Título de Graduado (obtained after at least 4 years = 240 ECTS of studies) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

Sudan

A 5 year bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Swaziland

An undergraduate degree from Swaziland does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree  with First Class or Second Class First Division.

Sweden

A bachelor degree or kandidatexamen obtained after studying 3 years (180 ECTs credits)

Switzerland

A first degree, Diplom/Diplôme, Lizentiat/Licence or Staatsdiplom/Diplôme d'Etat  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better or a 1st cycle bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better.

Syria

A 5 year bachelor's degree from a recognised university with a minimum final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Taiwan

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Tanzania

A bachelor’s degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours. 

Thailand

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Turkey

A bachelor's (Lisans Diplomasi) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Uganda

A bachelor’s degree awarded by a public university or an institution accredited by the National Council for Higher Education with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or Class I (top honours) or Class II (honours upper). 

Ukraine

A 4 year Bachelor (Bakalavr) degree with a CGPA of 75% or higher or a significant number of ‘Excellents.’

United Kingdom

A bachelor honours degree with Upper Second or First Class.

Your documents must clearly state that you have obtained/will obtain an honours degree. If this is not stated on your degree, an official letter from your university indicating that it’s an honours degree needs to be uploaded with your diploma.

United States

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Venezuela

A minimum 5 year bachelor’s degree leading to a Título de Licenciado or the Título in a professional subject with a CGPA of 75% or higher.

Vietnam

A 4 year bachelor's degree (Bang Tot Nghiep Dai Hoc) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Zambia

An undergraduate degree from Zambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a postgraduate diploma or a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Zimbabwe

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor honours degree from a public university with First Division or Upper Second Division.

Required document(s):

A copy of your official academic transcript(s), front and back, in the original language.If the degree is in a language other than English, French, German or Dutch, a certified translation is also required. Note: if you are in your  last year of your undergraduate studies, please upload a copy of your provisional transcript. If the transcript is in a language other than English, French, German or Dutch, a certified translation is also required.

3 Language requirements

All TU Delft MSc-programmes are taught in English. In order to be considered for a MSc-programme, you have to prove that your English is at a sufficient level.  

Requirements:One of the following certificates:

  • A TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test) with an overall band score of at least 90 and a minimum score of 21 for each section.  
  • An  IELTS (academic version) with an overall Band score of at least 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 for each section.  
  • A Cambridge Assessment English. Only the following  are accepted:

    • C1 Advanced (Certificate of Advanced English) with an overall score of 176 and a minimum of 169 for each section.
    • C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Proficiency in English) with an overall score of 180 and a minimum of 169 for each section

Exemptions
Nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. Applicants who obtained a bachelor’s or master's degree IN one of the aforementioned countries are also exempt from the English language proficiency requirement

Required documents: 

The following English language certificates are accepted:

  • TOEFL iBT 
    - When registering for the test, indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, 0031. If you have already taken the test and did not indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, then check the test organisation’s website on how to provide TU Delft access to your scores.
  • IELTS (academic version)
  • Cambridge Assessment English
    -  C1 Advanced (Certificate of Advanced English)
    - C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Proficiency in English)

Certificates older than two years will not be accepted.

Instead of your English language certificate you may also upload a screen print from the test organisation’s website with your test results. Your name and date of your test must be clearly visible in the screen shot. 

    For EU/EFTA nationals:

    The English language certificate may be uploaded until 1 July, provided that all other required application documents are uploaded before the application deadline of 1 April. We advise, however, that EU/EFTA nationals upload their proof of English language proficiency as soon as possible to make sure their enrolment and access to services can be arranged in time.

    For People’s Republic of China nationals

    For visa purposes you need a  Nuffic certificate as proof of your English language proficiency. In order to obtain the Nuffic certificate you will need to take the IELTS or TOEFL internet-based test.


    4 Motivation letter

    Required document:  

    A clear and relevant essay in English (1,000 – 1,500 words) addressing the following:

    • Your motivation for choosing this MSc programme.
    • Why you are interested in TU Delft and what you expect to find here
    • If this MSc programme has specialisation(s), which specialisation interests you the most and why?
    • Describe your hypothetical thesis project: what kind of project would you prefer? What would you want to explore? Please limit your answer to three possible topics.
    • Summarize in a maximum of 250 words your thesis work or final assignment/project. Please include information about the workload.

    5 Curriculum Vitae

    Required document: 
    An extensive curriculum vitae (resume) written in English.


    6 Proof of Identity

    Non EU/EFTA nationals

    A photocopy of the page(s) of your passport that give your name, date of birth, place of birth and the passport expiration date.

    The Dutch Immigration Office (IND) requires all Non EU/EFTA nationals applying for a visa/residence permit to have a passport valid for 6 months after the start of their studies. Please see our Dates and Deadlines page for more information about when each semester begins.

    Will your passport expire within this period?
    If accepted to your programme and your passport will expire within this period, you will need to upload a new passport by the following deadlines:

    • First semester: 1 May
    • Second semester: 1 November

    Already living in the Netherlands?
    In case you already live in the Netherlands, you need to also upload a copy of your residence permit (front and back).

    EU/EFTA Nationals

    A photocopy of the page(s) of your passport that give your name, date of birth, place of birth and the passport expiration date or your European ID card (both sides).


    7 Payment application fee

    All applicants are required to pay a € 120 application fee . The application fee is only refunded to students who start their MSc programme in Delft.
    You will be informed about the payment method in your online application.


    Additional requirements

    Some programmes require additional documents. Please check the programmes listed below to see if these requirements apply to you. 


    8 Industrial Design and Architecture & the Built Environment: portfolio

    Applicants for the following MSc-programmes are required to upload a digital portfolio. Note that each programme has its own portfolio requirements. Please click the links below for more information:


    9 GRE

    Applicants for the following MSc programmes are required to take the GRE revised General Test and upload their results in TU Delft’s application portal.

    • Aerospace Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Embedded Systems
    • Computer Engineering

    When registering for the test:

    • Indicate TU Delft’s institutional code 3823.
    • For 'school type' select 'graduate schools’.
    • For 'department' select ‘any other department not listed'.

    Your GRE test scores are an important part of your application and you should strive to submit the best possible scores. We do not set minimum GRE scores but do look for applicants who attain a minimum score of 154 for Verbal Reasoning, 163 for Quantitative Reasoning, and 4.0 for Analytical Writing. We reserve the right to reject applicants who do not have these scores.


    10 References

    Required documents 

    Only required for applicants applying for a scholarship listed on our website.

    Two reference letters in either English, French, German or Dutch.

    These letters must be:

    • from either a previous professor or assistant professor. If you have work experience, one of these letters may be from your employer.
    • written on the official letterhead and/or have the official stamp of the university or company.
    • signed by the referee and include your complete name.

    If your referee is hesitant to provide you with the recommendation letter, he/she can email a scanned PDF of the letter to contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl. His/her e-mail must include your complete name and TU Delft student number. You will be given this number upon registering in Studielink.

    If you choose this option, please upload a statement under “reference letter” in osiaan.tudelft.nl informing us of this decision. This statement should include the name and e-mail address of your referee.
