1 Bachelor’s Degree & CGPA

1) Bachelor’s degree
A. A bachelor’s degree from a good university, that is comparable in level with a bachelor degree from a research university in the Netherlands in a main subject closely related to the MSc programme to which you are applying, with good grades on the key courses.
or

B. Proof that you have nearly completed bachelor’s from a good university, that is comparable in level with a bachelor degree from a research university in the Netherlands  in a main subject which is closely related to the MSc programme to which you are applying, with good grades on the key courses.

Exceptions: Engineering and Policy Analysis, Management of Technology, Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management and Science Education & Communication, to which all students holding any Bachelor’s of technology or science / engineering degree may be admitted

Required Document(s): 
A. A copy of your original academic degree (or degrees). 
Is the document in a language other than English, French, German or Dutch? Then you must also upload a certified translation of your academic degree (or degrees) in one of these 4 languages.

2 GPA and academic transcript

Admission requirement: 
A Bachelor's Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 75% of the scale maximum, unless specific requirements are defined for the country in which you obtained your Bachelor’s degree:

Angola

A 5 year Licenciatura degree with final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better

Australia

A bachelor honours degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or High Distinction or Distinction

Bangladesh

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or the University of Dhaka with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5/4.0 or better.

Belgium

A 3 year 1st cycle Academisch Gerichte Bachelor/ Grade Académique de Bachelíer  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14.0/20 or better.

Benin

An undergraduate degree from Benin does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have Diplôme d'Études Approfondies / Diplôme d'Études Supérieures / Master’s / Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better. 

Botswana

A 5 year Bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5.0 (= B) or better. 

Brazil

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Bulgaria

4 year Bakalavr degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or better.

Burkina Faso

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Burundi

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Cameroon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a Master’s / Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Canada

Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better

Cabo Verde

A Licenciado degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

China

Bachelor's degree from a Project 211 university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

Please note that - from an admissions point of view - Hong Kong is considered separately. Applicants from Hong Kong  should have a bachelor’s degree from a mainstream Hong Kong university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better

Colombia

A (minimum) 4 year Licenciado or Titulo Professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5.0 or better.

Costa Rica

Licenciado degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better. A university Bachiller or a Diplomado / Technico superior degree are not considered for admission.

Croatia

A Baccalaureus / Baccalaurea (Bachelor degree) or a Diploma Visoko Obrazovanje / Diplomirani (Advanced Diploma of Higher Education) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better.

Djibouti

An undergraduate degree from Djibouti does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have  Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Ecuador

A university Licenciado or Professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Egypt

A university Bachelor's degree of at least 4 years with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

Eritrea

Bachelor’s degree from the University of Asmara with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4 or better.

Ethiopia

A 4 year Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4.0 or better. 

France

Licence degree from a university or a Diplôme d'Ingénieur degree from a Grande École or successfully completed at least 180 ECTS credits (normally including the award of the Gradué en Ingénierie degree) from a Grande École. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 12.0/20 (Assez Bien) or better is required.

Gabon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Gambia

An undergraduate degree from Gambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have  a Master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.3/4.3 or better

Germany

Diplom from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better. A 3 or 4 year 1st Cycle Bachelor's degree from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better will also be considered.

Ghana

A 4 year Bachelor's degree with a minimum of Upper Second Class honours from one of the 7 public universities.

Greece

Ptychio or Diploma degree from a Anotata Ekpedeftika Indrimata (AEI) university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

Hungary

Egyetemi Oklevel Alapkepzes degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better.

Iceland

Bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

India

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor's degree  (state/federal or ‘deemed' institution) passed with First Class Distinction or First Class. 

Indonesia

A Sarjana I (SI) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Iran

A 4 year Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better. 

Ireland

University Bachelor’s degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

Italy

1st Cycle Diploma di Laurea  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) on the Laurea courses of 25.0/30 or better.  

Ivory Coast

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Japan

University Bachelor’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of B or better.

Kazakhstan

A 4 or 5 year first degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

Kenya

A 5 year Bachelor's degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours upper division.

Lebanon

A 4 or 5 year Bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better. 

Lesotho

A 5 year Bachelor Honours degree with First Class or Second Class first division.

Liberia

An undergraduate degree from Liberia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Lithuania

Bakalauras degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Madagaskar

A Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Malawi

A 5 year Bachelor Honours degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Mauritius

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor's degree passed with First Class Distinction or Class I or Class II division I.  

Mexico

A (minimum) 4 year Licenciado / Licenciatura or professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

 

Myanmar

An undergraduate degree from Myanmar does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70 % or better.

Namibia

4 year Bachelor Honours or Professional degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better. 

Nepal

A 4 year Bachelor's degree from a public university passed with Distinction, generally represented by a mark of 80%. If the US grading system is used, 3.2/4.0 or better is required.

Niger

An undergraduate degree from Niger does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have Diplôme d'Études Approfondies or Diplôme d’Études Supérieures Specialisées with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20.

Nigeria

A 5 year Bachelor's degree from a public university with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Pakistan

A four year Bachelor's degree from one of the universities funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The degree must have been awarded with a final overall mark of 70% or better.

Poland

Licencjat or Inzynier university degree or a 3 year 1st Cycle Bachelor's university degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS points. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better is required.

Portugal

Licenciatura/Licenciado degree or a 1st Cycle Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits . A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better is required.

Romania

University Diploma de Licenta/Diploma de Inginer (awarded after a minimum of 4 years study). A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better is required.

Russia

A (minimum) 5 year Specialist Diploma or a 4 year Bakalavr degree . Both degrees must have been awarded with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better or a significant number of ‘Excellents’.

Rwanda

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor’s honours degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division awarded after the structure of the higher education system was reformed from the mid-2000s.

Senegal

Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Seychelles

Bachelor's degree with First Class or Upper Second Class.

Sierra Leone

4 year Bachelor's Honours degree from a public university with First Class or Second Class Upper.

Somalia

5 year Bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80 or better.

South-Africa

Bachelor’s degree with Honours (awarded after at least 4 years)  with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

South-Korea

Bachelor's degree  with a minimum final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

South Sudan

An undergraduate degree from South Sudan does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Master’s degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Spain

Licenciado / Licenciatura, Titulo de Ingeniero (Superior), Titulo de Arquitecto or Título de Graduado (obtained after at least 4 years = 240 ECTS of studies) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better or 2.0/4 or better.

Sudan

A (minimum) 5 year Bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Swaziland

An undergraduate degree from Swaziland does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Master’s degree  with First Class or Second Class first division.

Switzerland

A first degree, Diplom/Diplôme, Lizentiat/Licence or Staatsdiplom/Diplôme d'Etat  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better or a 1st Cycle Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better.

Syria

A 5 year Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with a minimum final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Taiwan

Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Tanzania

Bachelor’s degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

Thailand

A 4 year Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Turkey

Bachelor's (Lisans Diplomasi) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Uganda

Bachelor’s degree awarded from a public university or an institution accredited by the National Council for Higher Education with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or Class I (top honours) or Class II (honours upper).

United Kingdom

Bachelor's honours degree  with Upper Second or First Class.

USA

Bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Vietnam

A 4 year Bachelor's degree (Bang Tot Nghiep Dai Hoc)  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better. 

Zambia

An undergraduate degree from Zambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Postgraduate diploma or a Master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Zimbabwe

A (minimum) 4 year Bachelor Honours degree from a public university with First Division or Upper Second Division.

Required document(s): 
A copy of your original academic transcript (or transcripts). 

Is the document in a language other than English, French, German or Dutch? Then you must also upload a certified translation of your academic transcript (or transcripts) in one of these 4 languages.

E.g. if you are in the last year of your undergraduate studies you need to upload a copy of your provisional transcript as well as a certified translation of this transcript if it is not in English, French, German or Dutch.


3 Language requirements

All TU Delft MSc-programmes are taught in English. In order to be considered for a MSc-programme, you have to prove your English is at a sufficient level.  

Requirements:
One of the following certificates:

  • A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with an overall Band score of at least 90 and a minimum score of 21 for each section. Please note that we only accept the TOEFL internet-based test. 
  • or an  IELTS (academic version) with an overall Band score of at least 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 for each section.  
  • or proof that you have passed the University of Cambridge 'Certificate of Proficiency in English'  or the University of Cambridge 'Certificate in Advanced English' with a minimum grade B. 

Certificates older than two years are not accepted. 

Instead of your English-language certificate you may also upload a screen print from the test organisation’s website with your test results.

Required Documents 
One of the following: 

  • A TOEFL certificate. Indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, 0031, when registering for the test.  If you have already taken the test and did not indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, then check the test organisation’s website on how to authorise TU Delft afterwards.Also, upload your TOEFL certificate in TU Delft’s upload portal.  
  • An  IELTS certificate (academic version). When registering for the test, fill in that you want the test organisation to send the test scores to TU Delft electronically.  If you have already taken the test and did not ask to have the scores sent to TU Delft, then please get in touch with the test organisation,which will then upload your test score. Also, upload your IELTS certificate in TU Delft’s upload portal.  
  • Proof that you have passed the  Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) exam, the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) exam or the Cambridge English: Business Higher (BEC Higher) exam: Give TU Delft permission to verify your test results through the Cambridge English Results Verification Service website (https://verifier.cambridgeenglish.org/) and upload a Word document in TU Delft’s upload portal with your Cambridge English Candidate ID number and your Candidate secret number.

For EU/EFTA nationals:
The English language certificate may be uploaded until 1 July, provided that all other required application documents are uploaded before the application deadline of 1 April.

For People’s Republic of China nationals 
For visa purposes you need a  Nuffic certificate as proof of your English language proficiency. In order to obtain the Nuffic certificate you will need to take the IELTS or TOEFL internet-based test.


Exemptions
Nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are exempt from the proof of English language proficiency requirement. Applicants who obtained a bachelor’s degree in one of the mentioned countries, are also exempt from the proof of English language proficiency requirement.


4 Motivation

Please explain why you want to study at TU Delft. We gauge motivation with the following mandatory documents: 

Required document:  
A clear and relevant essay in English (1,000 – 1,500 words) addressing the following: 

  • Your motivation for taking the MSc programme of your choice. 
  • Why you are interested in TU Delft and what you expect to find here 
  • If there are optional specialisations in the MSc programme of your choice: which specialisation(s) interest you most, and why? 
  • Describe your hypothetical thesis project; what kind of a project would you prefer if you were free to make a choice? Also briefly explain what you would want to explore in your thesis project. Provide a maximum of three hypothetical thesis topics and elaborate on your particular interests in them. 
  • A brief summary (maximum 250 words) of the thesis work or the final assignment (to be) done for your Bachelor’s programme, including information on the credits earned, grade, and full workload.

5 References

Required documents: 
Two reference letters in English, French, German or Dutch: 

  • One from  a professor or an assistant professor from the faculty from which you graduated. 
  • One from your employer, if you already have work experience. 

If you have not yet graduated or do not have work experience, you need to upload two letters from professors or assistant professors from the faculty at which you are studying. 


6 CV

Required document: 
An extensive curriculum vitae (résumé) written in English.


7 Proof of Identity

Required document: 
A photocopy of the page (or pages) of your passport that give your name, date of birth, place of birth and the passport expiration date. 


8 Payment application fee

All applicants are required to pay an application fee of € 100*. Two methods of payment are possible: 

  1. By credit card or  
  2. By bank transfer 

* The application fee is only refundable to students who will actually start their MSc studies in Delft.

Required document: 
A document that proves payment of the non-refundable application fee (€ 100,-). That means the Credit Card Payment Form or a copy of your bank transfer order.

9 Industrial Design and Architecture & the Built Environment: portfolio

Applicants for the MSc-programmes Architecture, Building Technology, Landscape Architecture, Management in the Built Environment, Urbanism, Design for Interaction, Integrated Product Design and Strategic Product Design are required to upload a digital portfolio. The programme specific portfolio requirements are described on the following pages:


10 Aerospace Engineering GRE

Applicants for Aerospace Engineering are required to take the GRE revised General Test (institution code: 3823). Your GRE test scores are an important part of your application and you should strive to submit the best possible scores. We do not set minimum GRE scores that must be achieved to be eligible for admission, but the Aerospace Engineering Department looks for applicants who attain a minimum score of 150 for Verbal reasoning, 160 for Quantitative reasoning and 3,8 for Analytical Writing.


11 Scholarship

In case you wish to apply for a Justus & Louise van Effen scholarship, Delft Research Initiative (DRI) Scholarship or a TU Delft Institutes Scholarship, you need to upload the Scholarship application form.
