1 Bachelor’s degree

A bachelor’s degree, or proof of being in the process of completing your degree. The degree must be comparable in level to a bachelor’s degree from a research university in the Netherlands and must be closely related to your MSc programme of choice.

Applicants holding any bachelor’s degree in the fields of technology, science, or engineering may apply for the following programmes:

  • Engineering and Policy Analysis
  • Management of Technology
  • Complex Systems Engineering and Management (CoSEM)

Required Document(s): 
A. A copy of your original academic degree(s)
If the document is not in English, French, German or Dutch, then you must also upload a certified translation of your academic degree(s)  in one of these 4 languages.

Or in case you did not yet graduate: 
B. A certified statement from your university confirming that you are in the last year of your undergraduate studies. 

Required document(s): 

A copy of your original academic transcript(s), front and back.

If the document is not in English, French, German or Dutch, then you must also upload a certified translation of your academic transcript(s) ) in one of these 4 languages.

Note: if you are in your  last year of your undergraduate studies, please upload a copy of your provisional transcript as well as a certified translation of this transcript if it is not in English, French, German or Dutch.


2 CGPA and academic transcript

Admission requirement: 
To be considered for admission, applicants should have a bachelor's Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 75% of the scale maximum, unless specific requirements are defined for the country in which you obtained your bachelor’s degree. In addition, scores for key subjects must be good. Please check below if for your country a specific requirement applies.

Please note: if you have not yet graduated, your CGPA must meet the requirements at the time of application.

Angola

A 5 year Licenciatura degree with final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Australia

A bachelor of honours degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or High Distinction or Distinction.

Bangladesh

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or the University of Dhaka with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5/4.0 or better.

Belgium

A 3 year 1st cycle Academisch Gerichte Bachelor/ Grade Académique de Bachelíer  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14.0/20 or better.

Benin

An undergraduate degree from Benin does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies / Diplôme d'Études Supérieures / master’s / Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Botswana

A 5 year bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5.0 (= B) or better.

Brazil

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor's degree <del> </del>with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Bulgaria

4 year Bakalavr degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or better.

Burkina Faso

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Burundi

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Cabo Verde

A Licenciado degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Cameroon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a master’s / Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Canada

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

China

A bachelor's degree from a Project 211 university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

Please note that - from an admissions point of view - Hong Kong is considered separately. Applicants from Hong Kong  should have a bachelor’s degree from a mainstream Hong Kong university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Colombia

A (minimum) 4 year Licenciado or Titulo Professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5.0 or better.

Costa Rica

Licenciado degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better. A university Bachiller or a Diplomado / Technico superior degree are not considered for admission.

Croatia

A Baccalaureus / Baccalaurea (bachelor’s degree) or a Diploma Visoko Obrazovanje / Diplomirani (Advanced Diploma of Higher Education) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better.

Djibouti

An undergraduate degree from Djibouti does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have  Maîtrise degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Ecuador

A university Licenciado or Professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Egypt

A university bachelor's degree of at least 4 years with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

Eritrea

A bachelor’s degree from the University of Asmara with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4 or better.

Ethiopia

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2/4.0 or better.

France

A Licence degree from a university or a Diplôme d'Ingénieur degree from a Grande École or proof of having successfully completed at least 180 ECTS credits (normally including the award of the Gradué en Ingénierie degree) at a Grande École. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 12.0/20 (Assez Bien) or better is required.

Gabon

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Gambia

An undergraduate degree from Gambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have  a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.3/4.3 or better.

Germany

A Diplom from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better. A 3 or 4 year 1st cycle bachelor's degree from a Wissenschaftliche Hochschule or Universität with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 or better will also be considered.

Ghana

A 4 year bachelor's degree with a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours from one of the 7 public universities.

Greece

A Ptychio or Diploma degree from an Anotata Ekpedeftika Indrimata (AEI) university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better.

A Ptychio degree from a Technologika Ekpedeftika Idrimata (TEI) institute does not qualify for admission.

Hungary

An Egyetemi Oklevel Alapkepzes degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75/5 or better.

Iceland

A bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

India

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor's degree  (state/federal or ‘deemed' institution) passed with First Class Distinction or First Class. 

If your university does not use a class system (First Class or First Class Distinction), TU Delft's general admission requirement of a CGPA of 75% or higher applies.

Indonesia

A Sarjana I (SI) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Iran

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better.

Ireland

A university bachelor’s degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

Italy

1st cycle Diploma di Laurea  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) on the Laurea courses of 25.0/30 or better.

Ivory Coast

A 5 year Diplôme d'Ingénieur from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better. 

Japan

A university bachelor’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of B or better.

Kazakhstan

A 4 or 5 year first degree <del> </del>with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

Kenya

A 5 year bachelor's degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Lebanon

A 4 or 5 year bachelor's degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Lesotho

A 5 year bachelor honours degree with First Class or Second Class First Division. 

Liberia

An undergraduate degree from Liberia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Lithuania

A Bakalauras degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better.

Madagaskar

A Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a Maîtrise degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Malaysia

A bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or Class 2: Division I.

Malawi

A 5 year bachelor honours degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Mauritius

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor's degree passed with First Class Distinction or Class I or Class II Division I.

Mexico

A (minimum) 4 year Licenciado / Licenciatura or professional degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better.

Mozambique

A 5 year Licenciatura degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15/20 or better.

Myanmar

An undergraduate degree from Myanmar does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70 % or better.

Namibia

A 4 year bachelor honours or professional degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Nepal

A 4 year bachelor's degree from a public university passed with Distinction, generally represented by a mark of 80%. If the US grading system is used, 3.2/4.0 or better is required.

Niger

An undergraduate degree from Niger does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have Diplôme d'Études Approfondies or Diplôme d’Études Supérieures Specialisées with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20.

Nigeria

A 5 year bachelor's degree  from a public university with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division.

Pakistan

A 4 year bachelor's degree from one of the universities funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The degree must have been awarded with a final overall mark of 70% or better.

Poland

A Licencjat or Inzynier university degree or a 3 year 1st cycle bachelor's university degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS points. A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better is required.

Portugal

A Licenciatura/Licenciado degree or a 1st cycle bachelor's degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits . A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 15.0/20 or better is required.

Romania

A University Diploma de Licenta/Diploma de Inginer (awarded after a minimum of 4 years study). A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0/10 or better is required.

Russia

A (minimum) 5 year Specialist Diploma or a 4 year Bakalavr degree . Both degrees must have been awarded with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0/5 or better or a significant number of ‘Excellents’.

Rwanda

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor honours degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Upper Division if awarded after the structure of the higher education system was reformed in the mid-2000s.

Senegal

A Diplôme d'Ingénieur with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 14/20 or better.

Seychelles

A bachelor's degree with First Class or Upper Second Class. 

Sierra Leone

A 4 year bachelor honours degree from a public university with First Class or Second Class Upper.

Somalia

A 5 year bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80 or better.

South Africa

A bachelor’s degree with honours (awarded after at least 4 years)  with a First or Upper Second Class Honours.

South Korea

A bachelor's degree  with a minimum final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or better.

South Sudan

An undergraduate degree from South Sudan does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Spain

A Licenciado/Licenciatura, Título de Ingeniero (Superior), Título de Arquitecto or Título de Graduado (obtained after at least 4 years = 240 ECTS of studies) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0/10 or better or 2.0/4 or better.

Sudan

A (minimum) 5 year bachelor's degree from a public university with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Swaziland

An undergraduate degree from Swaziland does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a master’s degree  with First Class or Second Class First Division.

Switzerland

A first degree, Diplom/Diplôme, Lizentiat/Licence or Staatsdiplom/Diplôme d'Etat  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better or a 1st cycle bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5/6 or 7.5/10 or better.

Syria

A 5 year bachelor's degree from a recognised university with a minimum final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 70% or better.

Taiwan

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or better.

Tanzania

A bachelor’s degree with a First or Upper Second Class Honours. 

Thailand

A 4 year bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Turkey

A bachelor's (Lisans Diplomasi) degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Uganda

A bachelor’s degree awarded by a public university or an institution accredited by the National Council for Higher Education with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or Class I (top honours) or Class II (honours upper). 

United Kingdom

A bachelor honours degree with Upper Second or First Class.

United States

A bachelor's degree  with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or better.

Vietnam

A 4 year bachelor's degree (Bang Tot Nghiep Dai Hoc) with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5/10 or better.

Zambia

An undergraduate degree from Zambia does not qualify for admission to an MSc programme. To be considered for admission to an MSc programme, applicants should have a postgraduate diploma or a master’s degree with a final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0/4.0 or better.

Zimbabwe

A (minimum) 4 year bachelor honours degree from a public university with First Division or Upper Second Division.


3 Language requirements

All TU Delft MSc-programmes are taught in English. In order to be considered for a MSc-programme, you have to prove that your English is at a sufficient level.  

Requirements:
One of the following certificates:

  • A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with an overall Band score of at least 90 and a minimum score of 21 for each section. Please note that we only accept the TOEFL internet-based test. 
  • or an  IELTS (academic version) with an overall Band score of at least 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 for each section.  
  • or proof that you have passed the University of Cambridge 'Certificate of Proficiency in English'  or the University of Cambridge 'Certificate in Advanced English. 

Certificates older than two years are not accepted. 

Instead of your English-language certificate you may also upload a screen print from the test organisation’s website with your test results.

Required Documents 
One of the following: 

  • A TOEFL certificate. Indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, 0031, when registering for the test.  If you have already taken the test and did not indicate TU Delft’s institutional code, then check the test organisation’s website on how to provide TU Delft access to your scores.
  • An  IELTS certificate (academic version).
  • A  Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) or Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) certificate.

For EU/EFTA nationals:
The English language certificate may be uploaded until 1 July, provided that all other required application documents are uploaded before the application deadline of 1 April. We advise, however, that EU/EFTA nationals their upload proof of English language proficiency as soon as possible to make sure your enrolment and access to services can be arranged in time.

For People’s Republic of China nationals 
For visa purposes you need a  Nuffic certificate as proof of your English language proficiency. In order to obtain the Nuffic certificate you will need to take the IELTS or TOEFL internet-based test.



Exemptions
Nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are exempt from the proof of English language proficiency requirement. Applicants who obtained a bachelor’s degree in one of the mentioned countries, are also exempt from the proof of English language proficiency requirement.

If you completed  a double-degree program and  a) your degree comes from a university in the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada, and b) you completed at least 1 year of studies in that particular country, you will be exempted from this English language requirement. Please upload a statement from your university proving this.   


4 Motivation

Please explain why you want to study at TU Delft. We gauge motivation with the following mandatory documents: 

Required document:  

A clear and relevant essay in English (1,000 – 1,500 words) addressing the following:

  • Your motivation for choosing this MSc programme. 
  • Why you are interested in TU Delft and what you expect to find here 
  • If this Msc programme has specialisation(s), which specialisation interest you the most and why?
  • Describe your hypothetical thesis project: what kind of a project would you prefer? What would you want to explore?   Please limit your answer to three possible topics.
  • Summarize in a maximum of 250 words your thesis work or final assignment/project. Please include information about credits earned, grades, and the workload.

5 References

Required documents: 

Two reference letters in English, French, German or Dutch:

  • One from  a professor or an assistant professor from the faculty from which you graduated. 
  • One from your employer, if you already have work experience. 

If you have not yet graduated or do not have work experience, please upload two letters from professors or assistant professors from your faculty.

Please note that letters must be on the official letterhead /must have the official stamp of the university or company. They must be signed by the recommender and include your complete name and student number.

If your referee is hesitant to provide you with the recommendation letter, he/she can send a scanned PDF of the letter via email to internationaloffice@tudelft.nl. Should she/he choose this option, please upload a statement informing us of this decision with the name and email address of your referee in your online application under “reference letter”. 


6 CV

Required document: 
An extensive curriculum vitae (résumé) written in English.


7 Proof of Identity

Required document: 

A photocopy of the page(s) of your passport showing your name, date of birth, place of birth and the passport expiration date. 

Already living in the Netherlands? A photocopy of your residence permit (front and back)


8 Payment application fee

All applicants are required to pay a € 100 application fee . The application fee is only refundable to students who start their MSc programme in Delft.
You will be informed about the payment method in your online application.


Additional requirements

Some programmes require additional documents. Please check the programmes listed below to see if these requirements apply to you. 


9 Industrial Design and Architecture & the Built Environment: portfolio

Applicants for the following MSc-programmes are required to upload a digital portfolio. Note that each programme has its own portfolio requirements.


10 Aerospace Engineering GRE

Applicants for Aerospace Engineering are required to take the GRE revised General Test (institution code: 3823). Your GRE test scores are an important part of your application and you should strive to submit the best possible scores. The Aerospace Engineering Department does not set minimum GRE scores to be eligible for admission, but  looks for applicants who attain a minimum score of 150 for Verbal reasoning, 160 for Quantitative reasoning and 4.0 for Analytical Writing. The faculty reserves the right to reject applicants who do not have these scores.
