Track: Chemical Product Engineering

As a field of applied sciences, Chemical Product Engineering is barely fifty years old. It is not that long since scientists first realised that it was possible to manipulate atoms and to “design” molecules. Nowadays, the engineering of chemical products has countless applications in the development and manufacture of new materials and devices, such as nanocapsules, solar cells, energy storage devices and advanced polymers.

In pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, material sciences and energy alike, Chemical Product Engineering has a crucial and increasingly important role to play. Although the term is often overused, molecular engineering truly is a cutting-edge field of inquiry. 

Making molecules to shape the future

TU Delft's Chemical Product Engineering track provides an opportunity for MSc Chemical Engineering students to gain specialist expertise in this dynamic field and to participate in research activities with a specific focus on molecular engineering during the design project, the internship and the Master’s thesis.

The breadth of applications for which molecular engineering has relevance is practically unlimited. As interest in energy-efficient, sustainable materials, systems and processes continues to grow, so too does demand for scientists with the unique ability to design products with these desirable properties at the molecular level.
