Biography
Karen Aardal obtained her PhD at Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, under the supervision of Professor Laurence A. Wolsey. Her research interests are integer and combinatorial optimization, especially algebraic methods for integer optimization problems. She is also working on applications in the area of health (air ambulance location) and logistics. She has previously held positions at University of Essex, Georgia Tech, Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, and various universities in the Netherlands. She is currently professor of Optimization at Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics, Delft University of Technology.
Karen Aardal is the current chair of the Mathematical Optimization Society (MOS) and has previously been chair of the MOS Publications and Executive Committees . She has also previously served as a member of the board of INFORMS Computing Society. She is area editor “Design and Analysis of Algorithms” of INFORMS J on Computing and associate editor of Mathematical Programming Series B.
