Profile

Biography

Nasim Rezaei was born in Iran. In 2011, she received her B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering from Shiraz university, Shiraz, Iran. She continued her studies at Shiraz University with an M.Sc. degree in Electrical, Communications Engineering, where she performed research on optical fiber sensors. Following her passion for electromagnetic waves and modelling, she joined the Photovoltaic Materials and Devices group at Delft University of Technology to obtain her doctorate degree under supervision of Dr. ir. Olindo Isabella in 2016. The focus of her PhD project was light management in copper indium gallium (di)selenide (CIGS) solar cells, using optical as well as electrical modelling. Nasim Rezaei is currently working as a post doctorate researcher in the PVMD group.

Projects

  • Opto-electrical modelling of CIGS solar cells, funded by TNO
  • LAFLEX2T

Expertise

Nasim Rezaei's expertise is in opto-electrical modelling and characterization of light management techniques in thin-film (especially CIGS) solar cells. She has worked on optimization of passivated emitter and rear cell- (PERC-) like concept and wide-band antireflection coatings in CIGS solar cell. For the first time in CIGS solar cell research area, she and Dr. Olindo Isabella introduced the concept of interdigitated back-contacted (IBC) CIGS solar cells, which shows promising performance that can be pursued and confirmed at experimental level. This type of solar cells are free from the parasitic absorption of the supporting layers and optical shading of the front metallic grid. She also has expertise in spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) of the thin-film materials developed for solar cells and is responsible for the training of the new users of SE setup in the PVMD group.
