This lecture, entitled “Regimes of Attention,” will present a series of collecting and exhibition projects, from the V&A to ArkDes, that deal with displaying the dynamics of the contemporary public realm within the walls of an institution.

Since 2017, Kieran Long is the director of ArkDes, the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design. Long was previously the Keeper of Design, Architecture, and Digital at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London from 2014 to 2017. Previously he was deputy editor of Icon magazine, and editor-in-chief of the Architects’ Journal, and the Architectural Review.

The Berlage Keynotes is an ongoing lecture series featuring internationally prominent architects, designers, and thinkers who are at the forefront of design discourse and innovation. Organized and hosted by the Berlage, the series is part of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment’s Public Programs held on Thursday evenings. A selection of speakers working from different disciplinary perspectives and in different geographic, cultural, and political contexts present how their work engages with contemporary issues and debates. This spring semester, speakers include Christ & Gantenbein, OOZE, Francesca Torzo, Manthey Kula, PRODUCTORA, Anna Puigjaner, Vector Architects, Kieran Long, and Diener & Diener.
