Understanding the Dutch culture - September

The aim of the workshop is to share with you important information about how to settle in and navigate in the Netherlands.

Participants will receive a general introduction on road safety, public transportation, Dutch healthcare system as well as some basic concepts of Dutch language.

Besides learning more about the Dutch culture, traditions, celebrations, norms, and values, you will also receive useful links for websites and social groups for expats and internationals in the region.

By the end of this workshop you will learn how to:

•    Understand the Dutch culture
•    Navigate the Dutch system and find service providers
•    Meet like-minded people in the area
•    Become actively involved in the local society

Which methods will be used? 
Part of the workshop is based on Ute's 5 Steps to E.N.J.O.Y. International Life© program for newly arrived internationals in the broader The Hague area.

Furthermore, participants will explore the Dutch culture through art and language.

International TU Delft employees and their partners. 

When?
Online workshop: 06 September 2021 from 16.00 - 18.00 hrs.

Online meeting details
Instructions on how to participate in this online workshop through a video group call will be shared with participants after registration, three days before the event will take place.

Language
As all of our workshops are taught entirely in English, participants must demonstrate a good command of the English language, both spoken and written (comparable with Cambridge level B2).

Trainer
Ute Limacher-Riebold PhD is an Intercultural Communication Trainer at Ute's International Lounge. As a life-long international, she has lived and worked in several European countries. She supports internationals adjust to the new culture and lead a healthy and balanced life abroad. Ute Limacher-Riebold believes that understanding the other culture and language and knowing how to manage our expectations allows us to thrive everywhere. In her workshops she shares insights into the latest scientific findings, and shares her own experience and the one of her clients.
