27/11 Chess tournament: Try the real Queens Gambit

27 November 2021 11:00 till 17:00 - By: Communication | Add to my calendar

Did you know there are over 400 possible positions after one move each in Chess? And that adds up to over 9 billion different possible positions after three moves each? One of the oldest games in the world is coming to X! A fun tournament for all levels in cooperation with study association Christaan Huygens and Chess association Delftse Schaakclub. What are you waiting for?! Join us!

After the walk-in and registration you will be seated for your first match, under the supervision of one of the arbiters and tournament board of chessclub Delftse Schaakclub. Meet chess players and join the game!

We will play a tournament using the Swiss system. This is a non-eliminating tournament format that features at least 5 rounds of matches. So you can play all day. Each round will be 15 minutes (Rapid +5 sec) and with use of a chess clock. You will meet other competitors one-on-one in each round and are paired using a system which ensures pairing up with opponents of the same level with every match you proceed. So eventually the matches become more evenly balanced during the day and you will face another opponent every time.

Need a break in between matches or looking for more fun besides chess? Of course there is room for social connection and relaxing as well. The other part of the tournament location is prepped as a chill area where you can play board games, meet other chess players and/or can get a drink.

Due to covid regulations a negative covid-19 test result (no older than 24h), proof of recovery or proof of full vaccination is needed to participate in this event.

Saturday 27/11 | 11:00 – 17:00 | X3 | €5,- [In co-op with study association W.I.S.V. Christiaan Huygens and Chess association Delftse Schaakclub]
