The Berlage lezing: Marina Tabassum
21 June 2018 18:30 till 20:30 - Location: Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Oostserre - By: Communication BK
On 21 June, Marina Tabassum, recipient of the 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture, will talk about ‘Dwelling in the Delta’.
Marina Tabassum is a recipient of the 2016 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. She founded Dhaka-based Marina Tabassum Architects in 2005, after ten years as a partner and cofounder of URBANA in Dhaka. In projects that range from the scale of the residential block to the master plan, Tabassum prioritises climate, materials, site, culture, and local history in order to counteract what she finds impersonal and confused in architecture globally.
The New New
This lecture is part of the Berlage Sessions on scholarly research and critical approaches to contemporary architecture and urban design. Speakers link architectural thinking and practice to the history of ideas and changing sociocultural conditions. Under the theme of “The New New,” this series is examining the future that was once imagined by architects.
