Workshop: Building Diversity

16 May 2018 00:00 - Location: Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment - By: Communication BK

On 16 May, BK City will host the workshop ‘Building Diversity’ in collaboration with the BauHow5 Alliance. The workshop deals with the themes of diversity, equality, and inclusion in architectural education, research, and practice.

The event aims for an open and critical discussion about intersectional approaches to architectural pedagogy. The goal is to find ways in which more diverse policies and teaching practices in schools of the built environment could be implemented to improve inclusivity and equality in the architectural profession. Among the topics of discussion will be the representation of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and disability, in academia and practice.

The workshop will comprise an international roster of invited speakers with experience and expertise in the field of diversity and intersectionality in both educational and professional contexts. In addition, there will be staff and student participants from the BauHow5 partner institutions. These are the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment of the University College London; the School of Architecture of Chalmers University of Technology; the Department of Architecture of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich; the Department of Architecture of the Technical University of Munich; and BK City.

This event is open to all. If you have any special requirements please contact Amy Thomas. More information on the event can be found here.
