U_CODE showcase: mass scale urban co-creation

20 March 2019 10:00 till 12:00 - Location: Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering - By: Communication

A new train station, theatre or entire new housing project. A lot of large-scale urban design projects in Europe experience general pushback and lack of public support. Community feedback meetings face difficulties mitigating negative sentiments, while the most vocal opposition often dominates online discourse. How can planners, citizens and architects work together, so that everyone benefits from these massive projects?

U_CODE is a Horizon2020 project, funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement number 688873. Project partners include TU Delft, TU Dresden, ISEN, Oracle, GMP, OPTIS and Silicon Saxony Management GmbH.

The European U_CODE project developed the Minimal Viable Process for real co-creation and a voice for every citizen. With a strong focus on software, emerging technologies and an innovative design process, this project management approach enables developers and governmental planners to implement new interactive technology into their participation strategy as they emerge.

On Wednesday, 20 March, the U_CODE project will present this newly developed approach and several prototypes in the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft. Because this approach to project management and –communication enables architects, planners and developers to actually use citizen input for improvements to their projects. And citizens can really participate in the developments affecting their everyday lives.
