Part I by Philippe Christou will present Huntsman Advanced Materials their experience in aerospace materials and current developments. Part II by Alessandro Napoli will give an overview of challenges in R&D for novel structural polymers.

In the seminar series in aerospace manufacturing technologies, we are presenting invited speakers with selected topics in the field of novel manufacturing technologies. The  upcoming seminar talk will be given by Philippe Christou and Alessandro Napoli from Huntsman Advanced Materials, Basel (CH).

Philippe Christou is currently Head of the European technical support team with responsibility on overviewing product launch & qualification in all application areas (Adhesives, Composites, Tooling, Casting and Encapsulation). Moreover his team is responsible for the development of processes and application technologies suitable to work with our materials. He has more than 30 years experience in the composite industry having worked at Hexcel Composites  and Hexcel Reinforcement as R&D Manager for 15 years prior to joining Huntsman in 2005.

Alessandro Napoli
is currently technology manager in the Global Product Innovation team and responsible for R&D in industrial components. Focus of their work is to design and develop novel polymeric materials to address technical challenges in industrial applications (Bonding, Composites, Electronics, Casting). He holds a PhD in Materials Science from ETH Zurich and has worked on soft matter and block copolymers in academic institutions prior to joining Huntsman in 2008.
