3rd workshop by TU Delft Power System Protection Centre of The Netherlands.
Power system protection centre of the Netherlands cordially invites you to the third workshop AC-DC Protection Essentials for the Future that will be held on February 19, 2020 at the TU Delft, Delft, The Netherlands.
In order to secure the stability and security of supply of the power systems because of heavily increased penetration level of distribution generation, the utilization of multi-terminal DC grids raise essential questions about the protection of both future AC and DC grids.
On one hand, during a DC fault, the fault current rises promptly and therefore must be quickly eliminated. On the other hand, AC faults are fed through power electronic devices that keep the fault current level low, which difficult to detect by currently available protection solutions.
For the elimination of DC faults, fast protection is required capable of detecting the fault in a short period of time. The current should be interrupted by a DC circuit breaker in a very short period of time. Future AC protection solutions should be based on refined algorithms suitable to detect fault currents with low amplitude.
Experts from utilities, manufacturers and academia will convey their recent experience related to the latest developments of AC-DC protection solutions and DC current interruption technologies.
