Book launch: A Manifesto for the Just City

13 June 2022 20:00 till 21:30 - Location: Pakhuis de Zwijger, Amsterdam & Online - By: Communicatie BK | Add to my calendar

Roberto Rocco and Caroline Newton (Urbanism) will launch the two volumes of the book 'A Manifesto for the Just City' at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam with a round table.

About the book

This book addresses the need to re-imagine and re-conceptualise the Just City in light of recent systemic shocks: climate change, the pandemic, a generalised erosion of democratic standards and more. It contains texts by a number of guest authors. The first volume has 43 manifestos written by students from 25 universities. The second volume has 63 manifestos by students from 46 universities from all over the world. With this book, we seek to encourage students to formulate their own visions for the Just City and for a just transition.

The two volumes are the result of two online workshops organised by Roberto Rocco and Caroline Newton (Department of Urbanism) in partnership with several universities in 2020 and 2021.

The edition was supported by the Deft Design for Values institute, the TU Delft platform discussing responsible engineering and values in design.
