Enabling health, care and well-being through design research: ARCH22

The conference aims to connect science and real estate (design) practice on current knowledge and innovation themes. It demonstrates the added value of interdisciplinary cooperation on complex and costly social tasks. It serves to inspire designers, clients and policymakers in the sector.

From 22-24 August, ARCH22 in Delft will focus on research in care architecture. This conference is organised by the Faculty of Architecture of Delft University of Technology, Erasmus MC and a number of care-related Dutch architectural firms (AM_A, GAF and Wiegerinck) that carry out projects with an investigative attitude.

ARCH 22 has three guiding themes:
1 Integration of needs - inclusive, integrated design focused on health, care and well-being;
2 Care architecture and change - future-proofing, resilience and adaptability of designs and existing buildings (before, during and after the recent pandemic);
3 Involvement - co-creation, co-design, design and stakeholder processes. These themes will be approached from the following perspectives: (a) people (impact on users but also for instance innovation in work processes); (b) space (physical infrastructure, flexibility and adaptability); and (c) process (design process with users but also design tools like VR and BIM, the impact of IT and other technologies).
